Discussion Questions

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly and then all at once."
                                                                            -Hazel Grace

Now, the time has come to have a few discussion questions for chapters 1-6.

Haven't read them yet? Then I suggest turning back now before you spoil yourself. You have read these chapters and more?? Then, feel free to discuss with us!!

These will be up all week so feel free to stop by and leave your answers anytime!

  •  Although you are a few chapters in, is this book what you expected it to be? How has your opinion and thoughts changed since starting it?
  •  Can you relate to any specific character(s)? If so, how?
  •  The doctors and Hazel's parents force her to attend a support group for her sickness. Would you want to join a support group? Why or why not?
  •  Hazel and Gus have different views of cancer and what it means to have it. Do you agree with what they say? Does one's opinion describe your own thoughts about it?
  •  Within this book is fictional characters, but truth lies beneath. Hazel describes the drug that helped slow her cancer as a miracle. Have you had the chance to experience your own miracle, or know someone who has?
  • Have you enjoyed reading the book so far?

That is all the questions we have for now. I hope you have fun reading and answering these! If you have any you would like to add, feel free to put them in the comments and we will be sure to add them to the list and answer them ourselves! We look forward to seeing of your answers!

  1. 1.) This book has turned out to be a great story and I am very surprised about how much I have enjoyed reading it.
2.) I guess I relate a little more to Augustus. He helps everyone and is so thoughtful.
3.) It would be difficult, but I believe that a support group would be a great way to meet people and to see that there is always someone who has it more worse than you do. You are also able to be there and encourage people as well as they do you and meet others that go through the same things you do and no one will judge.
6.) This book has been a great encouragement and I have enjoyed reading it.
